The Kevin Goldberg Trio

Meet the Musicians

Kevin Goldberg

Kevin Goldberg holds a firm belief that music drives social change and is committed to creating a better world through musical collaboration. He has spent decades honing a unique sound that defies category, and dedicates his time to connecting with audiences in the SF Bay Area and around the world.

His musical education began as early as age two, when his father taught him to improvise on the piano--this quickly grew into a passion that spread into every aspect of his life. After a brief hiatus to earn a BS in Astrophysics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, Kevin moved to the San Francisco Bay, where he has continued to hone his musicianship, studying and performing with such luminaries as Tammy L. Hall and Michael Zilber.

In addition to collaborations with Jackie Gage, Orchestra Gold, Lil' Elephant, Piwai, Solate, and Wayfairy, Kevin holds space on the low end in jazz, soul, and fusion projects throughout the Bay Area.

Tammy Hall

Grammy award-winning pianist, organist, and composer Tammy L. Hall hails from Dallas, TX. Hall began her life with the piano at age four, honing her skills in the church and later in studies at Oakland’s Mills College before setting out on a professional career that would find her warm and intuitive mix of jazz, classical, and gospel approaches in great demand.

An intensive period of club performances and band building while living in Belgium for two years helped prepare Hall for her life as a collaborator and leader, and upon her return, she built a career in collaboration with a roster of major artists including Mary Wilson, Kim Nalley, Marcus Shelby, Houston Person, David “Fathead” Newman, Pamela Rose, Queen Esther Marrow, Ernestine Anderson, Barbara Dane, Holly Near, and Regina Carter, among dozens of others. She was a featured guest on NPR’s Piano Jazz with Marian McPartland, and is a dedicated educator, working extensively with SFJAZZ’s education department as well as the SFUSD, Stanford Jazz Workshop, the Musically Minded Academy, and more. She has led or co-led a number of albums under her name including her latest, Blue Soul.

Jason Lewis

Jason Lewis graduated from the classical percussion program at San Jose State University, under the direction of Tony Cirone of the San Francisco Symphony, with a B.A. in music. Mr. Lewis has taught privately in the bay area, coached at the Stanford Jazz Workshop, has performed clinics at schools throughout the San Jose area, and is currently a lecturer in the Jazz Studies Department at San Jose State University.

He has played with a variety of talented musicians including; John Stowell, Gary Burton, Gil Goldstein, James Moody, Mark Murphy, Bob Sheppard, Steve Rodby, Paul McCandles, Norma Winstone, Larry Coryell, Darol Anger, Regina Carter, Johnny Frigo, James Carter, John Handy, Anton Schwartz, Mark Levine, Peter Apfelbaum, Paul Nagel, and Kurt Elling. Mr. Lewis has also performed with the San Jose Symphony and the San Jose Civic Light Opera.
